How fortunate are we to be able to dodge the cookie cutter Starbucks in the 'burbs in exchange for some great, local coffee spots throughout the city. One of my favorites is Metropolis Coffee Company. This coffeehouse is happening Sunday through Saturday at any time of the day. The place is full of local Edgewater residents and is truly The Neighborhood coffeeshop. Of course, people from all over the city and outsiders venture to this place as well to get their java fix.
Metropolis Coffee Company has been voted the best in various publications(Chicago Magazine,New City,Chicago Tribune, etc).
Their smooth coffees are brewed to perfection which can be taken black believe it or not.
One of the great things about this place is that they display local
artwork that you can purchase as well. Also,if you ever check out their website: Metropolis Coffee Company, you can find out their latest art work displays and events held from time to time. Free Wifi is also available here which attracts Loyola students and business men alike.
There is a punchcard available here that after a certain amount of visits you get a free drink purchase. Also, I discovered if you use Foursquare and check-in three times, you get a free cookie with drink purchase. Gotta love that!
The staff is friendly, quirky, and will eventually get to know you if you become a regular.
So stop by today and see what all the buzz is about.
Metropolis Coffee Company is located at 1039 W Granville in Chicago.
