Most true cat lovers already know the story of Oscar, the cat who lives in a Providence, RI, nursing home and is known to predict the deaths of terminally ill patients. You'll be happy to learn that Oscar's story is about to become a movie!
Oscar's story first came to light in 2007, when nursing home staff began to notice that Oscar would snuggle alongside terminally ill patients to be with them in their final hours. He made so many correct calls, that nursing home staff started alerting families to come when Oscar would curl up next to a patient. Oscar was featured in a New England Journal of Medicine essay, and his story was eventually made into a book, Making Rounds With Oscar: The Extraordinary Gift of an Ordinary Cat.
Oscar has correctly predicted over 50 deaths at the nursing home, and rather than being afraid of the "furry grim reaper," the nursing home has found that people are comforted by having Oscar with them in their last hours. He's been praised in many eulogies and obituaries.
We'll be first in line to get tickets for this sweet story. Hooray Oscar!
