There is something about giant music fests that make it so high in energy and extremely enjoyable. Maybe it’s the food & drinks, the people you’re with, or the variety of music, or actually all of the above. This is certainly the case for Windy City Smokeout this past weekend.
More than 40,000 people were expected to head down to Grand Avenue near the Chicago River for the 3- day packed weekend for beer, barbecue and country music. The beer came from breweries both locally and nationally such as Trumer Pils from Berkley, California; SweetWater Brewing Company from Atlanta Georgia; and Local Option Bierwerker from Chicago. Illinois. The barbecue came from around 13 pitmasters nationwide such as Patrick Feges from Houston, Texas; Rodney Scott from Charleston, South Carolina; and Peg Leg Porker from Nashville, Tennessee. And of course the music ranged from world- renowned arts such as Jake Owen, Kip Moore and Lee Brice to up and coming artists like Jameson Rodgers and Sunny Sweeney.
It was definitely a fun and memorable weekend. The combination of food, beer and music went perfectly together. Some of the vendors such as Jack Daniel’s had games like giant Jenga & bean bags (cornhole) to play with while you visited/ hung out with friends or family while listening to the up and coming artists on the Jack Daniel’s stage.
No matter which stage you are at, artists give their all to their fans. They love it when you sing along word for word to their songs. This is especially true for Lee Brice who was the headliner on Sunday night. He made sure to give his fans a night they would not forget especially when he signed his guitar and gave it to one of his fans in the audience. (How cool is that?!)
Windy City Smokeout was packed with fun things to do and if you like beer, barbecue and great music then this event is perfect for you!
