Little Big Town plays NIU Convocation Center

Review by Ethan Chivari

As Little Big Town nears the end of their Pain Killer tour, they stop and pay DeKalb a visit.  Playing at the NIU Convocation Center last Thursday, LBT was accompanied by Drake White.  The night kicked off at 8 P.M. with Drake White and his band.

White brought the crowd to their feet with his upbeat and catchy songs like “It Feels Good”, “The Simple Life”, and “Heartbeat” to name a few.  White’s recent hit “It Feels Good” starts off with some handclaps and a drum beat. Once the acoustic guitar kicks in, this song comes to life and features a great acoustic riff.  Drake White is a laid back kind of guy that is great at what he does, he’s defiantly someone to keep an eye on and follow.

Little Big town took to the stage just shortly after 9 P.M. and played until 10:45.  They opened their set with one of their many hits “Day Drinking” which got the crowd dancing and singing along.  The show was comprised of a good mix of old and new songs produced by the band.  The high point of the show was an acapella cover of the famous Dolly Parton hit “Jolene”.

The night concluded with an encore of the hit song “Girl Crush” which included a giant disco ball to accompany the old time tone the song conveys.  From the opening act of Drake White to the main act Little Big Town, we give this show 4 guitars.
