Kenny Wayne Shepherd opened the show. They performed their blues rock style they they have found success performing. They has released several albums since starting out in the early 90’s. They are currently traveling as the opener for 2015 Van Halen tour.
Van Halen took the stage to the revelry of the crowd. They opened with “Light Up The Sky” as lead singer David Lee Roth showed off his enthusiastic showmanship, he worked the entire stage, dancing about and entertaining the fans while Eddie Van Halen worked his guitar delighting fans. Wolfgang Van Halen, the youngest member of the group played the bass, while Alex Van Halen on the drums showed no signs of slowing down after all these years. This was better than expected performance and well attended, although I don’t think it was a sold-out performance. I personally had difficulty hearing Roth clearly closer to the stage I was, but the further back you went the better it sounded.
The setlist was, Light Up the Sky; Runnin’ With the Devil; Romeo Delight; Everybody Wants Some; Drop Dead Legs; Feel Your Love Tonight; Somebody Get Me a Doctor; She’s the Woman; China Town; I’ll Wait; Little Guitars; Dance the Night Away; Women in Love; Beautiful Girls; Hot for Teacher; In a Simple Rhyme; Dirty Movies; Ice Cream Man; Unchained; Ain’t Talkin Bout Love; You Really Got Me; Panama; Jump, there was also a drum and guitar solo.
We also ran into radio legend Erich “Mancow” Muller from WLUP 97.9 The Loop’s morning show.
We would give this performance a four guitar rating. We look forward to more from them in the future.
