Saturday night we attend the second concert in this summer sold out triple play concert series in New Lenox. This annual event has been a sell out for the past few years. Mayor Tim Baldermann has been booking headliners from the 70’s and 80’s to perform during the three months of summer. Past lineups have included Peter FramptonKansasREO SpeedwagonStyx,HeartNight RangerBlue Oyster CultForeignerBad Company38 SpecialRick Springfield and more.

Outside of the triple play concert series, Mayor Baldermann is also offering “Country in the Commons” series in August featuring, Joe Nichols on the 16th and The Band Perry on the 30th.

Don’t forget we have one more in the triple play series to cover on September 5th the Lynyrd Skynyrd band.

As usual this concert event featured two opening bands before the main event. This time we were treated to Brede Baldwin and Dyland McDonald & the Avians.

Brede Baldwin hails from Chicago and has been performing since he was 9 years old. He began writing his own music since 2012. An in 2014 he released his debut album called “Broadcast.” He performed his Alternative music style to start off the evenings performances.

Dylan McDonald & The Avians were next up, coming in from Nashville, TN this son of five-time Grammy Award-winning Michael McDonald draws his primary musical influences from the legendary artists of the 60s and 70s. They are striving to create their own path and make a distinct mark on the musical landscape. They have released their second album called “Fueled By Dreams of the Future” and this defines what drives them.

The Steve Miller Band was the featured performance for the evening. This band formed in 1966 in San Francisco, CA. The band is best known and performed many of their mid-1970s hit singles. In February 1968, they released their debut album “Children of the Future.” They recently were on tour with Journey and they continue to tour and produce future albums.

Even with the heat for this outdoor concert, it was well attended. Attendees to this sold-out concert enjoyed the performances.

We will give the performances of the three bands four guitar rating.
