Historic Thalia Hall in the Pilsen neighborhood of Chicago Friday night hosted the Jeff Austin band with openers Pert Near Sandstone. Both groups performed their bluegrass musical styles to a psyched group of fans.
Pert Near Sandstone, hail from Minneapolis/St. Paul area, they have recorded 7 albums since 2005 and they are currently on tour and are hosting the upcoming Blue Ox Music Festival in Eau Clair, WI this coming June.
Jeff Austin is a mandolinist and singer best known for being a part of the Yonder Mountain String Band; he is a local boy, born in Arlington Heights, IL. He performed his unstoppable mandolin playing and showed off his singing ability. He has recently set out on his own solo career, releasing his new album called "The Simple Truth." He offers 180 grams Vinyl LP, Digital Download Card and a CD package deal.
Thalia Hall was the perfect setting for this show, with its former opera house charms and hardwood floors; it lent itself to great sound and floor space for fans to hoedown.
