Saturday evening, Tracy Grammer the American folk singer, best known for her part in the Dave Carter and Tracy Grammer duo was the featured performer for the Acoustic Renaissance Concert series held at the Unitarian Church of Hinsdale.
Grammer has become one of folk music's most beloved artists. Renowned for her clear alto voice, entertaining guitar playing, captivating storytelling, and sense of humor. She relates stories about the duo's first meeting, Carter's quirks and fancies, her own misadventures, all woven into her set list.
Grammer continues to tours without Carter since his passing in 2002, and travels through the United States, Canada, Europe and Japan. She holds the record for the most consecutive appearances at the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival, 13 times. She has performed in a variety of configurations. Solo, duo, trio, and full band with Jim Henry (Mary Chapin Carpenter, Burns Sisters, Susan Werner), Rob Schnell (Glim Dropper, Christine Havrilla), Tom Hampton (Marshall Tucker Band, Poco), and David Chalfant (Nields).
To her credit she has seven music cds released along with Dave Carter (1998 – 2012) and four solo productions from 2004 – 2015.
We found this to be an enjoyable concert with a mix of comedic stories and folk music. We will give this a 4 guitar rating.
