The Gaither Homecoming Christmas came to the Chicagoland on Friday evening and was held at the Willow Creek Community Church in South Barrington.
It was billed as. “A full evening of entertainment and meaningful music is a rare treat anytime, but when the occasion includes the best-loved voices in gospel music… it’s a must-see celebration! If you attend just one musical event this year, an evening hosted by Bill Gaither and featuring these artists is one you can’t miss. It will leave you encouraged, grateful and most certainly smiling!”
I would say people got their money worth with this concert. It lasted three and a half hour with a small intermission part way through. They performed many Christmas songs and gospel songs as well. Most notable song was performed by its writer, Mark Lowry, who sang "Mary Did You Know." So if you are a southern gospel music fan, then this is the show for you. I attended last year’s concert and that lasted four and a half hours.
It is a fast paced show, with music and comedy throughout.
Artists were on hand during intermission and after the show to greet fans at their merchandise booths.
A select group of attendees were given a VIP experience to go backstage and meet with Bill Gaither. The 78 year old founder of the Homecoming series is also known as an American singer and songwriter of southern gospel and Contemporary Christian music. He has written many popular Christian songs with his wife, Gloria, he is also known for performing as part of the Bill Gaither Trio, and the Gaither Vocal Band.
If you get a chance, you should check out this show, it is entertaining.
I give the concert five guitars.
