Snow Moon Sunday

Snow Moon Sunday

As I write this, the sky is the color of snow, and snow is falling, big fat flakes.  Forecast is clouds and snow in Chicago, so we probably won't see the full moon tonight .

The full moon on Sunday February 9 is called the Snow moon, Hunger Moon, Bone Moon or Storm Moon. One can imagine this winter full  moon shining bright over the frozen lakefront of Lake Michigan, over the snow-covered  prairies of Illinois.

This year, there is not so much ice on the Great Lakes, and much of the prairie is farmland and towns, now.

The moon tonight will shine down on Wuhan, China, and Aleppo, Syria,  Washington, DC,  Charlottesville,  Standing Rock, Chicago.  All these troubled places, and our own troubled lives. We share this moon.

Let us affirm to work for compassion and truth in this world, for  human rights and respect.   And let us remember there is  beauty, too. Snow falling on a Sunday, February in Chicago,  and the full Snow moon.

  • Well said. Take it from me: I'm a Moon Child. Zodiacally.

Beauty crowds me till I die

Beauty crowds me till I die
    Beauty mercy have on me
    But if I expire today
Let it be in sight of thee --

    Emily Dickinson

Thanks from me to both of you. The sky is still the color of snow on Thursday... and that's the way it is.

    Thanks so much!
