30 Days wild --Day 16

30 Days wild --Day 16

June 15, and still  light at 9 p.m.  The air is heavy and expectant. The leaves  sound like rain. Is that the sound of distant thunder?  In the garden, blinking lights.  The first fireflies of the season!

By day, the firefly is an ordinary-looking insect.  But  in the evening, they become quite extraordinary.  They are crepuscular and bioluminescent creatures. But to us, they are magic.   They are the lights of the summer nights, all the summer nights of our memories, flashing.

Can you imagine a future without fireflies?   No!
