We've taken off the last three weeks of picks. Here we go, ready to rock again. Major college bowl picks to come shortly, as well.
Chicago at Detroit (+3)
For some reason, the Bears decided to wake up the Lions from their slumber with several stupid comments in the media. The Lions, much like the old Raiders teams, have shot themselves in the foot all year with stupid penalties. The Lions turn the ball over, and the Bears are kings of making teams pay who turn the ball over. So, why am I picking the Lions? The Bears offense has been sputtering wildly. Both Jennings and Tillman have been banged up, and the Bears are down to their 17th string safety. The Bears come in without Matt Forte, and are hoping to establish the run against an angered defensive line. I have visions of 2000, when Paul Edinger's field goal ended Detroit's playoff hopes. This is payback. Detroit 20, Chicago 16
Arizona (+16 1/2) at San Francisco
I'm going out on a limb. The Lions beating the Bears at noon would put the Vikings in the playoffs. The Vikes in the playoffs would give them less worries against Green Bay; a team that needs to win to secure the bye. My belief is that the Niners win this game, but call off the dogs once the Packers finish off the Vikings. San Francisco 20, Arizona 9
Green Bay (-3 1/2) at Minnesota
The Vikes defense showed lot in their victory over Houston last week. However, my picks are going in order. In my world, the Bears loss will give the Vikes little to play for. The Packers, who have an offense clicking on all cylinders, should come away with the win. Expect AP to rack up the yards, but fall short of the record. Green Bay 21, Minnesota 16
