Chicago Tough Picks of the Week (White Hot Edition; October 13th and 14th)

Chicago Tough Picks of the Week (White Hot Edition; October 13th and 14th)

Things started out terribly for my 2012 season...but things have turned around MIGHTILY.

COLLEGE

Last Week: 2-1

Overall: 9-8-1 (6-2-1 in last three weeks)

PRO

Last Week: 3-0

Overall: 9-5-1 (8-1 in last three weeks, 6-0 in last two)

OVERALLOVERALL: 18-13-2 (14-3-1 since the evil comment made by my friend Brady on Facebook)

Sounds great, huh?  Well, things get tight this late in the season.  Vegas has more data to pull...picking for bits of information?  Good for you, so is everybody else.  These were some tough picks.

COLLEGE

Alabama at Missouri (+22)

Mizzou has a history of playing top opponents tough at home.  Columbia is a weird place to play, and it always seems like something crazy happens there in big games.  This is the biggest game in Columbia in quite some time...and while the Tide will win, it won't be as comfortable as they might think. Alabama 17, Missouri 6

Illinois (+25) at Michigan

I've been looking at this line all week...my mind can't get out of its head that Illinois is going to keep this tight.  Many feel Michigan finally got their mojo back after that big win at Purdue.  Illinois?  Well, they were a clusterf--- of sorts in the second half, last week.  Illinois has always had a bit of magic in Ann Arbor (see: 1993, 1999).  Denard will turn the ball over.  Illinois quietly has a solid rush defense.  Michigan pulls away in the second half...Michigan 34, Illinois 16

Wisconsin at Purdue (U 50 1/2)

I'm going to consider Purdue's defensive play an aberration, last week.  The Badgers got into a rhythm against Illinois, but the offense has struggled for the good portion of the season.  Looking at the figures, I just can't see this game being a runaway/high scoring affair; especially with a young QB for Wisconsin.  Purdue 17, Wisconsin 16

PRO

New England (- 3 1/2) at Seattle

The Seahawks put pressure on Aaron Rodgers, the Seahawks defensive numbers are near the top of the NFL...yada, yada, yada.  Aaron Rodgers had a tough time with his O-line in Seattle...Tom Brady will get better protection against what I believe to be an over-appreciated defense.  New England 24, Seattle 13

Green Bay at Houston (O 47 1/2)

I had to check this a couple times.  People feel that great about Houston's defense after Cushing's injury?  I understand the Packers are struggling on offense, but expect them to get their 21 points.  For Houston, they're going against an over-achieving (that's right) Green Bay defense.  This was supposed to be the weak spot for the Packers, but the young guys have come through (don't look at second half against Colts).  I have Houston lighting it up.  Houston 34, Green Bay 21

New York Giants at San Francisco (U 45 1/2)

Do people think that Alex Smith is going to terrorize the Giants defense?  This over/under is suspicious.  But I have to go with first instinct.  Expect Eli to come out pumped, and the Niners want to make a statement.  San Francisco 20, NY Giants 17
