That's right, folks! Ole Jimmy John is back with his picks of the week...and if you remember from last year, I ended on a tear!
Plan on this carrying over into 2012. I've done my research, I've been making money off the ponies in Arlington...my gambling has made significant strides in the past year.
So, without further ado...here's my picks. So, Slats...get out yer pen!
Notre Dame vs. Navy (U61)
So, the Irish have quarterback troubles with little Lake Forest nancy-pants Tommy Rees out. They'll be sticking to banged up Everett Golston. Cierre Wood is out, too. However, most of Navy's top players from last season are gone. Why pick under? Easy: New QB for Irish, poor kicking game for the Middies, and the Irish FINALLY solved the Navy offense last year. I'm going under: Notre Dame 27, Navy 17
Ohio at Penn State (-6 1/2)
I know that my buddy, OU grad Bullpen Brian, won't like this pick. OU is coming off a solid season at 10-4. Penn State? Well, we all know what type of off-season they had...eek! Here's the thing...they say never bet on something as silly as 'passion'. But for this game, that's exactly what I'm doing. So much has happened over the past eight months that I believe it will be let loose on this game. A highly motivated Penn State team comes out and does its work: Penn State 24, Ohio U. 13
Michigan vs. Alabama (-13 1/2)
Here's the question people need to ask. Cut out all the Denard Robinson talk...it's simple: How can Michigan compete against Alabama's defensive and offensive lines? Here's a quick and definitive answer: they can't. Not even close. Robinson is fun to watch, but he's never seen this type of defense before. As much as I want the Big Ten to make a statement...they won't. Still a basketball conference, folks...as much as you don't want it to be: Alabama 27, Michigan 10
