Chicago Tough Picks (10/16-10/17)

I'm turning 30 on Friday.

It's really tough for me to comprehend considering I have the maturity level of a 23 year old.

Jimmy's smilin'...the picks are getting better.

Did the thousands of hours in my room during childhood do wonders for me in the betting wolrd?

Heck to the no.  I'm really struggling here...and I'm in need of a life perserver.

Last Week: 2-1

Overall: 10-8

Last Week: 2-1

Overall: 6-9

Total: 16-17

A great week.  I have won back all of my fans.  Well...not really.  This week, let's get over the .500 mark.

Western Michigan (+23) at Notre Dame

The Irish have routinely played like hot garbage over the past 3 years against remedial/unranked teams.  Saturday will be no different.  While the Broncos are not world beaters, the Irish haven't put together a complete game in years (and that's not an exaggeration.)  Notre Dame 34, Western Michigan 20

Alabama (-21) vs. Ole Miss

I don't feel good about the Rebels.  Alabama comes off its toughest loss of the year, and you can bet Nick Saban spent the whole week running his Tide to the core.  I expect a big rebound from the most talented team in college football.  Alabama 31, Ole Miss 7

Illinois at Michigan State (-9.5)

I'm sick and tired of hearing people talk about how good of a team they see in Champaign.  The Illini beat a Penn State team that is light years from the front of the Big Ten.  You really expect Schellhaase and his 6 yard passes to defeat Michigan State's defense?  MSU just stopped the most powerful player in the Big Ten.  I'm sure they're shaking in their boots to face the powerful Illini.  Michigan State 38, Illinois 10

Baltimore (+2.5) at New England

The Patriots...favored?  Is this a line from 2003?  I've had enough.  As we say, if the line looks like this, Vegas might know something we don't.

Detroit (-10) at New York Giants

Eli Manning doesn't put together a string of games...he's arguably the most inconsistent quarterback in the NFL.  Detroit has been close in all of the games they've played.  I like the Lions, but not in the game.  New York Giants 23, Detroit 16

New Orleans vs. Tampa Bay 43.5 over

This is the week that the Saints finally explode on offense.

And hopefully I explode again on these picks.

  • You were always better in the confidence pool, I used to have you pick the 0-14 point pool and at 10 you were kicking everybody's but at work including a few of the bookies that were in the pool. Mom put a stop to that (spoilsport). Maybe we shoulda just started going to the track and handicapping the horses.

  • For real, but I think horses are a crapshoot. Go figure...ND holds on for a 24 point win! I am better in the confidence pool...maybe I should start posting that?
