Happy Friday to everyone out there. Another weekend that we have been waiting
for. It is going to be a really nice weekend for Chicago standards. But take advantage of the
weekend if you can. Because next week should be really nice if the forecasts hold true.
Onto today's Techy Bytes edition.
Dark Knight comes to Facebook - Every person on the planet knows what Facebook
is and what it does. Now another thing to be doing on Facebook. As you may know
if you read my blog this past Wednesday I mentioned that Angry Birds is coming
to Facebook to give it's user a new way to play the game. Now comes word that
Batman and The Joker are coming to Facebook as well. The Dark Knight will be
available for every user to be able to stream the movie on their social network
site but only in the U.S. To rent the movie on the Facebook site will cost
$3 or 30 Facebook credits.
iPad 2 goes on sale this Friday - Apple will begin selling the most prized
device online on March the 11th at 4 a.m. Eastern standard time. So wake up
early guys to get your hands on the device.
But if you prefer to be the first person to get your hands on the device Friday.
Then in-store sales will begin at 5 p.m. at Apple stores and all other stores that
will sell the iPad 2.
Online sales times from other providers will differ. But expect Friday to be a
madhouse for everyone that will be on the lookout for a iPad 2.
Which iPad is for you? - Like the original iPad there will be a variety for everyone
to choose from. You will have to choose whether you want a 3G or Wi-Fi iPad
and of course the memory size. Now first let's discuss size. Of course anyone
knows bigger is always better. But that is not the case here. I will discuss in
detail. First the sizes are 16,32 and 64 gigabytes. Normally you would say go
for the 64GB iPad. Each size has a 100 dollar difference. 16 GB costs $499 and
the 32 GB $599 and the 64 GB is $699. Take into account we are talking about
size of memory. No matter how high in price you go there will not be a performance
difference. All iPad 2's will function the same. Now the iPad is not going to
be replacing your laptop or desktop so you don't need that much size. And what you
do store on the iPad doesn't take up much space. Like photos, music but movies
do take up a lot of space. They do take up as much as 1 GB of space per movie. Now
how many movies are you going to be storing in the device. So now I leave you with
the 16 GB or 32 GB of storage to choose from. Now if you do a lot of traveling and
watch a lot of movies. Then the 32 GB is for you but if you just are going to use
the iPad at home then stick the entry level iPad the 16 GB.
Now 3G or Wi-Fi? All the basic iPad's have Wi-Fi but if you want to sign with a
wireless provider like AT&T or Verizon they have the 3G version for you. Now ask
yourself this, is your home equipped with Wi-Fi? If it is then I would have to
stick with the Wi-Fi but if you are not then go with the 3G version.
So now to everyone that will be out there waiting in line for the prestigious iPad 2.
I wish you luck and hope you can get your hands on the iPad 2.
