Write Club is tonight, May 17th, at The Hideout and this month's event features HELLO (Danny Thompson) vs. GOODBYE (Ian Belknap), FATE (Rachel Claff) vs. FREE WILL (Whitney Dibo), and RAIN (Jen Ellison) vs. SHINE (Mary Fons)

Trilling is a new and very cool literary journal in town, and their launch party for their first issue in this Wednesdat at Simone's Bar (960 W. 18th St.). The night will include Patricia McNair, a special musical appearance from the fabled Derek Nelson, and round after round of short stories from the authors of our very first issue! Of those writers I know Lauryn Allison Lewis will be reading.

Story Lab Chicago is on May 18th at Black Rock Pub (3614 N. Damien) starting at 7:30pm. This month they have 6 story tellers including writers, play-writes, performers, and even a Groupon employee.

Jenny Seay's monthly Tamala-filled series is dedicated to MFA students, graduates, and creative writing instructors (including adjuncts) this month, and I am sure she has put together a solid line-up. It is her first annual MFA Invitaional. Congrats to her on completing her MFA. Enjoy a tamale on May 21st from 7pm to 10pm.
