As a fan of books and someone who has always loved to collect old books, I have long been fascinated by the work of Chicago's Lacey Pipher. To take books that no one cares for any longer and dissect them, rearrange them, and turn them into creatures and more is amazing. I love to try to read the words scattered across her creations. She recently sent me an image of latest piece, "Toe Tapper", for a benefit show for Rock The Kids. How do you feel about book dissection for the sake of Art? See also Brian Dettmer.
Lacey is taking part in the OHNO!DOOM Grand Opening show this weekend. Proceeds from the show will go to Rock The Kids, non-profit that brings music education to underprivileged youth. The show opens on Jan. 16th and will run through Feb. 6th.
