Jordan Danks joining Sox big league club

Jordan Danks, the younger brother of John Danks, will be joining the big league club today. Jordan was selected in the 7th round of the draft by the White Sox in 2008. Danks is currently playing for AAA Charlotte Knights, where he is putting together a nice season. Danks is a 6'4", 210lbs outfielder who bats lefty. Danks is currently batting .302 AVG/ .419 OBP/ .516 SLG. He has 15 doubles, 8 HR's, and 28 RBI's. Danks is regarded as the best defensive outfielder in the Sox organization. He has been playing CF at Charlotte. The knock on Jordan has been his high strikeout rate the past few seasons. Right now, he has 59 K's compared to 40 BB. Jordan has the ability to play all three outfield positions.

Manger Robin Ventura mentioned that Kosuke Fukudome is still dealing with a rib injury. Fukudome left Sundays game against the Mariners mid game because of the injury. With Jordan on his way to the club, a trip the DL is likely for Fukudome. Jordan will give Ventura a healthy body to move around and come off the bench. The flu has also been spreading through the clubhouse so many players aren't a 100%. Doug Lauman, White Sox Scouting Director, recently said that the organization was very happy with the progress Jordan Danks was making this season. Lauman felt that Jordan could help the team this season if a injury occurred and would push for a roster spot in 2013. It looks like the younger Danks will get a shot here in June.

The Sox have had solid defense in the outfield this season after a miserable showing in 2011. Danks should only help continue that tradition. Danks will likely come off the bench as a late inning substitution, but look for him to get a few starts while he's up here to gauge his Major League readiness.

Hopefully, John Danks comes back from his rehab start with no issues and can join his younger brother on the big league club together.
