Ozzie Guillen puts Jake Peavy and others on notice

Last Saturday, Jake Peavy did a phone interview on White Sox Weekly (WSCR 670 the Score) with host Chris Rongey. During the interview, Peavy was asked the usual questions about his health and how he thought the White Sox would fair in 2012.  The real interesting part of the interview was when Jake Peavy sounded off on his former manager Ozzie Guillen.

Jake told Chris that he fell out of favor with Ozzie when he was shutdown in September. Jake said Ozzie didn't care about him and saw him as quitter. Peavy made the following statement, "I would never quit on a team. … Ozzie didn't finish the season with us the last (2) games. So I don't know who quit on who." Jake went on to further criticize his former manager saying, "At the end of the day, Ozzie didn't really know what goes on ... in the pitching realm of things, he didn't have a whole lot of input and know what was going on."  Well Jake if you wanted your old managers attention, you got it. Today, Ozzie Guillen posted numerous tweets via his twitter account that were directed towards those comments made by Jake Peavy.

Following tweets from Ozzie Guillen:

I'm sure the chairman, Jerry Reinsdorf, is not happy that once again the Sox are in the news about how Ozzie Guillen left the team. Jerry likes the publicity for the Sox, but would rather prefer that it pertained to the upcoming season. Sorry Jerry, this isn't going away. With a off-season filled with a fan favorite leaving, salary dumps, and the term "rebuilding" this is the biggest news on the Sox.

Ozzie Guillen left for Miami in a rather quite fashion. Sure, there was some bad blood between him and pitching coach Don Cooper published in the Chicago Sun Times. Regardless, it could of have been worse. Sox fans are sick of Jake Peavy always talking and not performing. Jake has been nothing but a injured player and excuse maker since he got here. Instead of focusing on just trying to prove that you can pitch a full year injury free, you went negative. Well Jake, I'm willing to bet you are going to get more than you bargained for with that little interview.

@jakepeavy_44: Hey y'all enough please said it before & again now I Love @OzzieGuillen and have all the respect in the world for him...

The above tweet was posted later after Ozzie's comments by Peavy via his Twitter account. If Ozzie Guillen, in fact keeps his word and speaks out when he gets back, watch out White Sox. There won't be anywhere left for members of the organization like Jake Peavy, Ken Williams, or Don Cooper left to hide. Ozzie will bring out his flame thrower and scorch the area of 35th/Shields. Ozzie Guillen has the ammo and dirty laundry on all these guys. If the plan was for Ozzie to go Miami quietly, I hope you guys have a Plan B. We may .500 ball club on the Southside this season, but Ozzie Guillen may heat things up this winter for the fans.

  • Hey Brian, great post. I was taken back by how quickly Peavy backpedaled on his comments.

It's unfortunate because you're right. With the team rebuilding and dumping salaries left and right, the Ozzie drama will be the only thing that will be exciting in the South side. I'm not one to speculate but by seeing how the telenovela played out between Cooper and Guillen, I too foresee Guillen firing at all cylinders in airing the Sox's dirty laundry.

Thanks Q. I appreciate the kind words. Hopefully you will continue to check out the blog. I did a post on Ken Williams too you may enjoy. I completely agree with you and I think Ozzie will hold no punches if he comes out after Ken, Coop, or Peavy. It will get interesting. The only person I know Ozzie will not attack is Jerry Reinsdorf. I don't see Oz saying anything negatively about the organization either.
