You could say the Chicago Blackhawks receive some soft media coverage in this town. You’d be making a tremendous understatement. Just last week I called out Comcast SportsNet Chicago for their overt Blackhawks cheerleading. The team does own 20% of CSN Chicago, so the network was in fact partially created so that the teams owning them (the Blackhawks, Bulls, Cubs and White Sox) could have editorial control over the game broadcasts. Therefore, you can understand why CSN Chicago acts as overt Blackhawks cheerleaders. However, they still don’t go so far as to actually wear Hawks regalia during broadcasts. The local ABC and NBC affiliates do in fact go that far...

NBC 5's Lauren Jiggetts buys $1 million dollar + home
It appears that NBC 5 anchor Lauren Jiggetts was born on third base, even though you might think really got there by hitting a triple. (Kind of like Kate Upton actually) Lauren Jiggetts is a graduate of Stevenson High School in Lincolnshire and Harvard University. She joined WMAQ-TV in 2007 at the ripe age of 25. So how did Lauren Jiggetts get a cushy job in the third largest market at so young an age? Right after she "cut her teeth" so to speak in a great market/sweet gig in Boston coming right out of college. Lauren Jiggetts does this while almost everyone else in the media business (or show business, the media business really is the same thing as show business) has to grind it out in isolated, rural po-dunk stations after graduation? Could it be because of her Dad, former Bears lineman and current talk show host Dan Jiggetts...
