Chicago Bulls Dominant! Ranking Local Sports Team Twitter Presence

Chicago Bulls Dominant! Ranking Local Sports Team Twitter Presence
I don’t have a lot of Twitter followers, but there are two professional sports teams among my group. And with that designation, they get to enjoy my substantial stream of funny Patrick Kane pictures and hilarious Jay Cutler memes. These two teams are the Chicago Bulls, and their arch-rival the Detroit Pistons. (Keep your enemies close, right?) Coincidentally, the Chicago Bulls have a dominant advantage in Twitter presence among local sports franchises. I listed and ranked them all by number of Twitter followers; as of June 29th, 2013, late afternoon. The Bulls lead the Blackhawks by an overwhelming margin. And then there’s a big drop-off to the Bears, Cubs, White Sox, Fire and Wolves. Therefore, other local sports teams, maybe you should take a lesson from the Bulls and follow me? (@paulmbanks) "I’m just Kidding like Jason. Unless you're gonna do it." CC Nelly. There are just two major college athletic programs that follows me. Marquette and Illinois. Coincidentally, the alma maters of myself and David Kmiecik, The Sports Bank's second major writer. Northwestern? Hello, where are you guys? Well, maybe there really isn’t any rhyme or reason to the follow/defollow/unfollow/follow back world is there? That’s arbitrary and up for debate. However, numbers don’t lie. And I parsed the numbers for you, with all official accounts linked (so you can easily find each team account). I also show you how each Chicago team stacks up against the biggest franchise names in their respective leagues...

Chicago Bulls media tweet about NBA Draft Night

Chicago Bulls media tweet about NBA Draft Night
The Chicago Bulls selected Tony Snell out of New Mexico tonight with the 20th pick in the NBA Draft. The Bulls pick again in the second round, #49. I'll be back later with reaction to that pick. I'll also be doing an in-depth profile of both Snell and the #49 pick later. Will link them here. Also, I'll have reaction/statements from Gar Forman and John Paxson on both picks too. Fun fact: newly minted Chicago Bulls guard Tony Snell was actually born in 1991, the same year as the first Bulls NBA Championship. He also has 4.9% body fat...

Chicago Bulls 2013 NBA mock draft composite

Chicago Bulls 2013 NBA mock draft composite
Happy NBA Draft Day! For all you Chicago Bulls fans, get ready to see what the team does with the #20 and #49 picks in 2013 Draft. Here’s a NBA mock draft composite for your favorite team. You know what "The GarPax" always likes to do. GarPax is a combination of GM Gar Forman and VP John Paxson. When the Chicago Bulls approach the draft, it's all about taking a player from a big name school who has a lot of experience. Look for the Bulls to stay in character this draft and take yet another junior or senior from a high major program. Can you believe it's been five years already since the lottery gods smiled upon the Bulls and gave them the #1 pick, despite a 1.4% chance, and brought home Derrick Rose? With D Rose returning, and a couple good moves this summer, the Bulls could be right back at the top of the Eastern Conference heap next season. And here’s our latest 2013 NBA Mock Draft. The most ACCURATE on the whole wide web the last two years!!! David Kay was #1; ...

NBA Draft Combine hits Chicago: recap, synopsis, news and notes

NBA Draft Combine hits Chicago: recap, synopsis, news and notes
The NBA Draft Combine was held here in Chicago this past Thursday and Friday. Almost every player likely to get picked in the 2013  NBA Draft came to the Windy City for workouts in front of NBA scouts and interviews with the local and national media.

During the interview sessions, the draft combine reporter gets up close and personal with every former college basketball star soon to hear their name called on draft night. Each player gets his own table in the conference room and journalists rotate like speed daters to obtain quality face time with everyone. Conversation is much more in-depth here than at post-game press conferences. It's about the big picture here -- no time to waste on the boringly banal queries from newspaper beat writers forming out their pedestrian game recap articles.

On top of the media grilling, the draft combine includes tougher inquisitions from the league's teams. Four years ago, Arizona's Chase Budinger, picked 44th by the Detroit Pistons, currently balling for the Minnesota Timberwolves, said he faced a psychological aptitude test from our hometown Bulls. He had to arrange blocks to match a picture they presented. A lot of reporters toss boring, easy softball questions ("if you could have dinner with anyone in history who would it be?" "what's your favorite late night snack?)", but the professionals on NBA payrolls pull no punches. They're investing major paper, long dough in their selection. That means doing due diligence. Even players' personal lives are in bounds. At the NBA Draft combine, teams want to know if players are single, married, have kids, baby mommas, baby momma drama etc. Multiple players said they had to reveal if they had a "friend with benefits." Are we talking to a league front office? Or is this your prom date's father?

Who had the most accurate 2012 NBA Mock Draft?

Who had the most accurate 2012 NBA Mock Draft?
Everyone had Chicagoan (Perspectives Charter) Anthony Davis going #1 overall. However, a mock draft is exactly like a sports nerd crossword puzzle- you have to work hard to make things fit logically. And our friends at Weakside Awareness have done a study showing who can complete the puzzle most effectively. From WA: NBA Draft 2012 is in the books so it’s time for a lot of grading… no, I don’t mean judging teams or drafted players because it’s too early but there’s one draft-related topic which doesn’t require waiting few years: Who Had The Best and Worst 2012 Mock Drafts on the Internet?...

NBA Combine in Chicago: Anthony Davis attracts local and national media
With the NBA Draft Combine rolling through Chicago this week, you probably saw a ton  of very tall young men strolling down Michigan Avenue.
