Double Duty: I'm now doing Illini, Northwestern analysis for KOZN Omaha
This Saturday I’ll be “the doing the double.” The term comes from auto racing, but I’m applying it to college football. Illinois is playing Washington at the home of the Chicago Bears, Soldier Field at 5pm Saturday. After I’m done, I’m headed to Evanston for Northwestern vs Western Michigan with a 8pm kickoff.
Any other local Chicago sports media doing the doubleheader? If my good friend Lindsey Willhite, PR Director for the Chicago Wolves, was still working for the Daily Herald I know he’d be right there with me.
Anyway, the auto racing version of doing the double is the NASCAR Coca-Cola 600 and the IRL Indianapolis 500 on the same day.
Tony Stewart has done it three times. And keeping with this theme of doubling up…

…starting Tuesday, I’ll be doing a weekly guest appearance as both a Northwestern and Illinois Fighting Illini football analyst for KOZN 1620 The Zone Omaha. It’s a station with a Fox Sports Radio affiliation. I’ll be appearing every Tuesday on KOZN at 10:30 A.M. as part of the “Big Ten Whiparound” on Sharp and Benning in the Morning. Here’s where you can listen.

Sharp and Benning are from 7-11 AM CDT on KOZN 1620 The Zone leading into Game Time with Nick Bahe from 11-2 every weekday. I’ve appeared on Game Time as well. Here are the respective Facebook pages for Sharp and Benning and Game Time.

After all, there is no place like Nebraska

Of course, I’ll still be doing my weekly Chicago Bears segments for WAOR 95.7 The Fan Michiana (a NBC Radio affiliate, I appear every Friday at 7:30 CDT) and my day job is running The Sports Bank.net, affiliated with Fox Sports, as part of the Yardbarker Network (a Fox Sports holding). I’ll still keep writing for Chicago Now, a Tribune Corporation website.

So my portfolio is diversified now between Fox, Trib, and NBC. And Fox heavy. I’ve been on The Score a couple times, (CBS Radio) and the CBS affiliates in Houston and Cleveland a few times. ESPN Honolulu, Milwaukee and Jacksonville have welcomed me on too

Paul M. Banks is the owner of The Sports Bank.net, an affiliate of Fox Sports. An analyst for 95.7 The Fan, he also writes on Chicago sports media for Chicago Now. Follow him on Twitter (@paulmbanks) and Facebook.
