ESPN College Gameday in Evanston! Send us your Signs!

ESPN College Gameday is officially headed to Ryan Field in Evanston. Not be confused with the Fox Sports 1 anchor named Ryan Field.

Now that Gameday will be here, I want to see your signs! The best ones will be posted here later.

ESPN College Gameday has been to a Northwestern “home game” before. Remember the goofy “everyone drives the same direction” battle at Wrigley Field in 2010? Although that aspect of the contest was a total Chicago Cubs like fiasco, the game was a huge marketing/publicity success, as you had many moments in the vein of Mr. Cub Ernie Banks singing “Go U Northwestern” at Clark and Addison.

In the game itself, Ron Zook and the Illinois Fighting Illini smoked the Wildcats 48-22 as Mikel Leshoure rushed for an Illinois school record 330 yards.

This time, ESPN College Gameday will see Northwestern host the Red Menace, the Evil Empire of Ohio State, who enter the game as just a four point favorite. It’s the best two teams in the Big Ten no doubt. (Certainly, the Buckeyes and Wildcats have looked like the cream of the league crop thus far)

However, this is still very much a Rocky vs. Drago match-up.

Northwestern is just 14-59-1 versus OSU overall and a mere 2-35 since 1964. This will be their first meeting since 2008, and the last four NU losses in the series produced final scores reading: 45-10, 58-7, 54-10, 48-7. So basically, tOSUvsNU has been Drago vs Apollo Creed lately.

However, maybe this visit from ESPN College Gameday will change all that?

And I guess Urban Meyer is Ivan Drago, making the Ohio St. Sports Information Department the Politburo! LOL and our hero is…well, Kain Colter for sure. With the way the recent APU (All Players United) story played out in the local and national media, Colter is the only true protagonist in this title fight. And there's a lot about Kain, both on and off the field, that makes him truly heroic.

I had an exclusive with NU alum and national sports talk radio figure Mike “Greeny” Greenberg, published on September 10th. I brought up the idea of ESPN College Gameday coming to Ryan Field. Here’s the snippet.

Part 2 of this interview, Greenberg discusses Jay Cutler, the Bears, Derrick Rose and the Bulls.

Greeny and his partner Mike Golic will hit the road for hyped up college football and NFL games this year. They’ll be in Evanston on Friday, Oct. 4.

There are college football pregame shows other than ESPN College Gameday.

Of course, there are search engines other than Google.

ESPN College Gameday is one of the programs that Bristol truly does superlative. It’s one of the best products that the World Wide Leader has.

And the fan signs are possibly the best part. I like the edgy ones, such as this one about Kristen Saban, daughter of Alabama Coach Nick Saban. There were some great ESPN College Gameday signs the week prior, bashing Everett Golson and Notre Dame. Although one was in really poor taste and morally repugnant, as it exploited the death of Lizzy Seeberg.

So let’s keep these signs classy on Saturday, Chicagoland.

What's the line of good taste? I have no idea. This one might seem offensive to you, but ESPN did not confiscate it.

If you have a great slogan for a sign, or better yet a graphic for it. Email it to me- thesportsbank DOT net AT GMail DOT com. Use subject heading ESPN College Gameday. You can also tweet your signs to @paulmbanks use hashtag #GameDaySigns

If your sign is already completed, then you can just email/tweet a picture of it. I’ll post the best ones here on Friday.
