Former Bears, Illini writer Vaughn McClure leaving Tribune for ESPN Atlanta

Chicago Tribune Fighting Illini reporter Vaughn McClure is leaving the paper for ESPN Atlanta. McClure, who was previously a Chicago Bears beat reporter, will be covering the NFL again; this time he’ll handle the Atlanta Falcons.

Before taking the ATL job, McClure was to handle the Chicago Bulls beat once the NBA season started.

News of Vaughn McClure departing for The South was broken by Tribune “In the Wake of the News” Columnist David Haugh on Twitter:

McClure is the second prominent local sports media figure to leave Chicago for Atlanta. Longtime 670 The Score producer, host and reporter Jason Goff took a position as an evening host at  92.3-FM The Game in Atlanta this past October.
