WSCR 670 New Home for Fighting Illini Sports

The logo of WSCR 670 The Score is blue and orange for a reason. All CBS owned radio stations adopt the colors of their local NFL team for the station logos. Obviously, WSCR got it’s colors from the Chicago Bears. Papa Bear Halas brought the colors with him to the Bears from the University of Illinois.

And now with the Illini joining forces with WSCR, it all comes full circle.

Illini A.D. Mike Thomas announced today WSCR 670 The Score will be the newest radio affiliate on the statewide Illini Sports Network. WSCR will be the home for Illini sports in Chicago.

Mike Thomas appeared live on the WSCR Mully & Hanley Show this morning to make the announcement.

WSCR 670 AM will carry Illini basketball starting in 2013-14 and football in 2014. (STEAKS AND CAKES!)

The multi-year agreement encompasses both college football and college basketball. Additionally, WSCR will broadcast Illini coaches’ shows for men’s basketball and football concurrent with the respective schedule. However, the best part of this agreement is…I no longer have to turn on long-time radio affiliate WIND-AM 560 for Illini games! So horrible, disgusting talk radio station filled with far right-wing political propaganda: hey, thanks for coming!

Rod Zimmerman, senior vice president and market manager for CBS Radio in Chicago: “We’re also pleased that we’re able to continue to broadcast DePaul Blue Demons’ games on WSCR when not conflicting with an Illini game.”
