NBC 5 hires Rebecca Haarlow: photos and bio

Not all sideline reporters are created equal; and sometimes one applies herself to distinguish herself from the ex-bikini model, ex-cheerleader media herd.

One example is Rebecca Haarlow, currently a Sideline Reporter and host for Fox Sports Network, NFL Network, and Big Ten Network. Haarlow has covered the Los Angeles Lakers, Clippers, Big Ten and PAC-12 college football and college basketball for Fox Sports West. Now she comes to NBC 5 Chicago on a per diem, part-time basis.

And according to her official website’s bio page, attended Princeton where she majored in history with an emphasis on the Civil War.

That’s right the Chicago (well Western suburbs) born and raised beauty can talk both back door cuts and General Ambrose Burnside with you if you (or more importantly she) wishes.

Haarlow was Capt of the track and field team for the Princeton Tigers, where she won the heptathlon. She also has improv training with the famous Groundlings comedy troop.

Here’s more from her biography page:

Haarlow began her professional career working for ABC in San Francisco, Silicon Valley Sports & Entertainment, and reporting on the Sacramento Kings for Foothill 7 television. An athlete herself, the rush of competition and the demands of preparing for a different game every night had Haarlow hooked on sports broadcasting from day one.
