Now it's eleven
With a great new way to lose
Hit-By-Pitch walk off
Most people figured the Cubs had no new tricks up their sleeves. But Rafael Dolis delivered on Saturday night, hitting the Pirates' Matt Hague with a pitch while the bases were loaded in the bottom of the ninth. And just like that, the Cubs lost their eleventh game in a row.
I suppose at this point we might as well look forward to the Cubs setting a record for futility. In 1997 the season began with 14 straight losses, the longest streak in club history. The Cubs could break that record on Wednesday against the Padres at Wrigley Field. Tickets for this potentially historic day are as little as $5 on StubHub. Although if you're a bobblehead (or long hair) fan, you might opt for Tuesday's game - when the Cubs could tie the franchise record - because it's Jeff Samardzija Bobblehead day.
