Cubs can't manage sweep
But avoid losing homestand
Next up, Milwaukee
Ryan Dempster struggled in his second start, giving up 5 runs and 10 hits in 7 innings.  Home runs by Ramirez (his first of the year) and Soriano (to make up for an error) weren't enough and the Cubs ended their first home stand of the year with a .500 record.
Soriano's error came in the third inning.  Marlon Byrd made a valiant effort to catch a hit off the bat of Chris Young but the ball dropped in front of Byrd and rolled past him for a triple. In contrast to Byrd's hustle, Soriano overran the ball for an error (pictured above) and Young scored.  It seems we're going to have to get used to errors and lack of hustle again this year in left field.
Thursday is a "travel" day, as the Cubs prepare for a weekend series against the Brewers in Milwaukee.  On Friday night it will be Carlos Zambrano facing Randy Wolf.
