Castro and Barney
Lead the Cubs to victory
Batting one-and-two
The Cubs survived a seventh inning that saw the Astros smack two home runs against Ryan Dempster to climb within one run of the Cubs, who at one time led 5-0.  Carlos Marmol was in typical form, striking out the side in the ninth for his 4th save but with a walk and a hit just to keep things interesting.
But the offensive stars on Monday night were Starlin Castro and Darwin Barney, who combined to score all the Cubs runs.
The Cubs shortstop was put at the top of the line-up by manager Mike Quade and went 3-for-5 while also getting the Cubs first stolen base of the season.  Even when he struck out (as he did twice) he made Houston pitchers work, facing 13 pitches before fanning in the sixth. Barney, batting second, reached base 4 times (2-for-3 with 2 walks) and scored the Cubs other two runs.
The Cubs will try to assure a series win in Houston on Tuesday night when James Russell faces Brett Myers.
