A 10K Diamond
Throws a lot of pitches, but
Ties "Prior" record
Thomas Diamond struck out 10 Brewers, throwing 122 pitches over 6 innings.  He tied the record set by Mark Prior in 2002 for most strikes outs by a Cub pitcher in his major league debut.
But that was really the only good news on Tuesday night ...

Cubs seventh straight loss
Longest streak of the season
It's been a long week

And now the Cubs fall
Fifteen games below even
Losing season looms
I was holding on to the thin hope that the Cubs could climb back to .500 and at least allow Lou Piniella to retire with his fourth consective winning season.  But with the Cubs now 15 games below .500, even the optimist in me is having a hard time believing that will happen. And as wall know, despite how it sometimes appears, Cubs fans are not optimists.
