Denis Savard flourishing as Chicago Blackhawks Ambassador

Denis Savard flourishing as Chicago Blackhawks Ambassador
Denis Savard may not have been the perfect coach for the Chicago Blackhawks (but he was a decent bench boss at the time for the team), but he is currently flourishing as the team’s ambassador. The former center was the biggest star on the team in the 1980s, and his stint as coach in the late 2000s helped revive interest in the team. He just wasn’t the guy to bring them the Cup. But as ambassador, he’s perfect. And I caught up to him last week as he helped unveil the Hockey City Classic, a college hockey double header between the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Miami Red Hawks, Minnesota Golden Gophers and Wisconsin Badgers...

Blackhawks raise ticket prices again; costs are getting very high!
For the third time since 2008, the year that the Cubification of the Chicago Blackhawks started, the team is raising ticket prices. That was the year snake oil saleman John McDonough and his lickspittle Jay Blunk came to the team and took over the front office. Hockey may be the sixth or seventh favorite sport,... Read more »

Blackhawks make two Defenseman for Draft Pick Deals
In a last second before the 2012 NHL Trade Deadline deal, the Blackhawks sent their main protector, defenseman John Scott to the New York Rangers. TSN reports the Blackhawks received a fifth-round pick in exchange for Scott. Getting rid of Scott leaves the Hawks without a true “enforcer” to retaliate against the hits that will... Read more »

The Easter Rebellion has come full circle. Blackhawks and Canucks Heading Back to Chicago, UNRULY Fans
With a resounding 5-0 win in game five, the Chicago Blackhawks took a game from the Vancouver Canucks in their building and got right back in goaltender Roberto Luongo‘s head. They’ve out-scored the Canucks 12-2 in the last two games, and 17-11 in the series (yet they still face elimination being down 3-2). Maybe the... Read more »

Blackhawks Resemble Cup Winning Team, if Only for a Night

Like the group of very late 20 century American poets, 98 Degrees once said, “Give me just one night, una noche, I’ll give you the time of your life.” And for the Chicago Blackhawks, that one night stand was as exciting and as invigorating as possible. Facing their first elimination game since ’09, they looked... Read more »

Stan Bowman's Summer Purge Making Blackhawks Look Bad Today

The party is over now. It’s truly headache and hangover time, Chicago Blackhawks fans. Sure, four points to reach the playoffs isn’t an insurmountable obstacle, but jumping three teams probably is. Mostly because it’s hard to imagine them playing that much better down the stretch of this hockey season than they have so far. Barring... Read more »

Blackhawks Inspire Funny Video

Ever since the Chicago Blackhawks won the Stanley Cup, or actually slightly before, they’ve been a little too big for their britches at times. They were considered the hot thing in Chicago all year, and it might some effect on why they seem a tad complacent. Currently, the Hawks are 11th in the Western Conference,... Read more »

NHL Mid-Season Evaluations and Playoff Predictions

Early in the season, I provided my predictions as to how I believed the Western Conference would pan out.  A smart person would have simply chosen not to follow up on how accurate their predictions were. As I am not that type of person (smart), I now provide, at the halfway point of the season... Read more »
