Launching Lovie Smith Bears Emery’s Biggest Mistake

Launching Lovie Smith Bears Emery’s Biggest Mistake
Just one year ago today, from 670 the Score to US99, people were yelling “Fire Lovie!” Tired of his bend but not break defense, his mild manor side line antics, his lack of a “Chicago mustache;” Bears fans wanted him launched. Well, Bears fans got their wish, and the ever so powerful Phil Emery cleaned... Read more »

Baltimore Ravens' Super Bowl run gives Bears hope

Baltimore Ravens' Super Bowl run gives Bears hope
Aging defense, patchwork offensive line, and a quarterback with a strong arm but questionable decision making. This describes the Chicago Bears to a T, but it also describes the AFC Champion Baltimore Ravens. The Ravens and Bears are both led by strong, but aging defensive units. Both have playmakers all over the field and potential... Read more »

David Shaw and Chicago Bears, a perfect fit

David Shaw and Chicago Bears, a perfect fit
The Bears don’t need to over pay for Jon Gruden.  They don’t need a retread like Bill Cowher.  They don’t need the “hot” coordinator like Mike McCoy or Kyle Shanahan.  Phil Emery expressed last week that the coaching search was going to be thorough, exploring all levels of football to find the right guy to... Notre Dame’s Manti Te’o the modern day Mike Singletary

Notre Dame’s Manti Te’o the modern day Mike Singletary
Intense eyes, heart and soul of the defense, coach on the field; these were all phrases used in tonight’s National Championship to describe Notre Dame standout middle linebacker Manti Te’o.  Does this sound familiar Bears fans?  Watching Te’o play in tonight’s National Championship should remind everyone of Mike Singletary, a very talented but overrated player. Not... Read more »

Chicago Bears Fans, Welcome to Cubdom

Chicago Bears Fans, Welcome to Cubdom
When Theo Epstein took over the Chicago Cubs in 2011, Cub fans had the year 2015 circled on their calendar when the Cubs would become “relevant” again.  With the news today that the Bears have parted ways with Lovie Smith, Bear fans can expect the same thing.  Nobody likes to hear the dreaded “R word”... Un-Bear-able Offense in Chicago Sports

Un-Bear-able Offense in Chicago Sports
Joakim Noah, Brian Urlacher, and Julius Peppers: These are the faces of Chicago sports today.  What do all of these athletes have in common?  All three are known for their defense, not their offense.  Chicago continues to be a backwards thinking sports town.  Gone are the days where defenses ruled supreme.  The last three NFL... Decision is Easy for Chicago Bears with Jay Cutler…Franchise Him

Decision is Easy for Chicago Bears with Jay Cutler…Franchise Him
Cannon for an arm…check.  Height and mobility…check.  Ability to make all the throws…check.  So the Bears should sign their most talented quarterback in franchise history to a long contract extension correct?  Maybe, but not just yet. With the new CBA in place, teams have the ability to use the “franchise tag.”  This allows teams to... Read more »

Don’t Blame the Referees, Blame the Chicago Bears Offense

Don’t Blame the Referees, Blame the Chicago Bears Offense
As the final seconds ticked off the clock in today’s 21-13 Bears loss to the Green Bay Packers, Peanut Tillman chased down the referees to voice his displeasure towards them.  The Bear fans that remained at Soldier Field hurled empty beer cups and shouted expletives at Walt Anderson’s crew as they left the field .  Inside the... Mike Martz Vindicated....Former Bears OC Deserves Apology

Mike Martz Vindicated....Former Bears OC Deserves Apology
“Tell Mike Martz go ….. yourself.”   All Bears fans remember the TV cameras picking up Jay Cutler yelling that at the sideline.  Bears fans laughed, and all of Chicago agreed.  Martz was the guy who was “responsible” for the 24th ranked offense that averaged 22 points a game.  If the Bears would just launch Martz,... I'm what they call a Chicago sports junkie. I'm a season ticket holder for the Northwestern Wildcats and Chicago Bears and go to a ton of games at Wrigley, US Cellular, and the United Center. I live in suburban Elmhurst with my beautiful wife who also love sports. Unfortunately for me, she is a Cowboys fan (still working on changing that). Even though her allegiance is to the Cowboys, she too loves all of the Chicago teams. We even had Staley Da Bear at our wedding, and let me tell you, Da Bear can play the drums. There isn't a Chicago game that either of us miss! I graduated from Elmhurst College and was a four year starting pitcher for the squad. Baseball is what I know and what I love. Although my playing days are behind me, I still coach both at the college level (Elmhurst College) and legion level (Gurnee Riverdogs).
