Chicago Bears Fans, Welcome to Cubdom

Chicago Bears Fans, Welcome to Cubdom
When Theo Epstein took over the Chicago Cubs in 2011, Cub fans had the year 2015 circled on their calendar when the Cubs would become “relevant” again.  With the news today that the Bears have parted ways with Lovie Smith, Bear fans can expect the same thing.  Nobody likes to hear the dreaded “R word”... Memo to Northern Illinois: Let your play do the talking, not your mouth!

Memo to Northern Illinois: Let your play do the talking, not your mouth!
Congratulations Mr Lynch, you have woken a sleeping giant.  During this past week, Northern Illinois starting quarterback Jordan Lynch was asked about their matchup with ACC powerhouse Florida State.  He responded by saying “They’re fast, they’re physical….but they haven’t seen anything like our offense.  We plan on wearing them down.  In the fourth quarter, we... Un-Bear-able Offense in Chicago Sports

Un-Bear-able Offense in Chicago Sports
Joakim Noah, Brian Urlacher, and Julius Peppers: These are the faces of Chicago sports today.  What do all of these athletes have in common?  All three are known for their defense, not their offense.  Chicago continues to be a backwards thinking sports town.  Gone are the days where defenses ruled supreme.  The last three NFL... Cubs and Edwin Jackson a Real Head Scratcher

Cubs and Edwin Jackson a Real Head Scratcher
Edwin Jackson and the Chicago Cubs…this makes as much sense as the marriage of Heidi Klum and Seal.  Spending $52 million dollars on a veteran whose best years are behind him doesn’t seem like a logical step in the Theo “master plan.” Signing Edwin Jackson means one of two things: the Cubs feel they are... Decision is Easy for Chicago Bears with Jay Cutler…Franchise Him

Decision is Easy for Chicago Bears with Jay Cutler…Franchise Him
Cannon for an arm…check.  Height and mobility…check.  Ability to make all the throws…check.  So the Bears should sign their most talented quarterback in franchise history to a long contract extension correct?  Maybe, but not just yet. With the new CBA in place, teams have the ability to use the “franchise tag.”  This allows teams to... Read more »

Don’t Blame the Referees, Blame the Chicago Bears Offense

Don’t Blame the Referees, Blame the Chicago Bears Offense
As the final seconds ticked off the clock in today’s 21-13 Bears loss to the Green Bay Packers, Peanut Tillman chased down the referees to voice his displeasure towards them.  The Bear fans that remained at Soldier Field hurled empty beer cups and shouted expletives at Walt Anderson’s crew as they left the field .  Inside the... Chicago Cubs Dodge Huge Bullet with Anibal Sanchez

Chicago Cubs Dodge Huge Bullet with Anibal Sanchez
When word broke yesterday that the Cubs had agreed in principal to a deal with Anibal Sanchez for 5 years and $77 million dollars, Cub fans all over Chicago were scratching their heads. Sanchez was ready to become the highest paid pitcher on the Cubs staff and be the new “top dog” on the north... Read more »

Mike Martz Vindicated....Former Bears OC Deserves Apology

Mike Martz Vindicated....Former Bears OC Deserves Apology
“Tell Mike Martz go ….. yourself.”   All Bears fans remember the TV cameras picking up Jay Cutler yelling that at the sideline.  Bears fans laughed, and all of Chicago agreed.  Martz was the guy who was “responsible” for the 24th ranked offense that averaged 22 points a game.  If the Bears would just launch Martz,... Northwestern in Gator Bowl…..Shame on You Jim Delany!

Northwestern in Gator Bowl…..Shame on You Jim Delany!
How will Kain Colter fare against the Georgia Bulldog defense?  Can the Cats win a shootout against Texas AM?  Can the Cats compete with some of the top BCS teams?  These are all questions that will have to wait till next year.  From what looked to be a very promising bowl game, the Cats will... I'm what they call a Chicago sports junkie. I'm a season ticket holder for the Northwestern Wildcats and Chicago Bears and go to a ton of games at Wrigley, US Cellular, and the United Center. I live in suburban Elmhurst with my beautiful wife who also love sports. Unfortunately for me, she is a Cowboys fan (still working on changing that). Even though her allegiance is to the Cowboys, she too loves all of the Chicago teams. We even had Staley Da Bear at our wedding, and let me tell you, Da Bear can play the drums. There isn't a Chicago game that either of us miss! I graduated from Elmhurst College and was a four year starting pitcher for the squad. Baseball is what I know and what I love. Although my playing days are behind me, I still coach both at the college level (Elmhurst College) and legion level (Gurnee Riverdogs).
