What you can do: Tree House Humane Society

Tree House has a unique problem: too many people. Well, any organization that has too many volunteers doesn't actually have a problem per se. It's more a refocus of energy, because really, who doesn't love spending time with adorable cats? So, if Tree House doesn't need someone on a Saturday afternoon, exactly how can you help?

Adopt: Stop on by and meet all those potential family members looking for a forever home. On their website, Tree House features all of the cats looking for forever homes and tells you a little of their history. That's where I first was introduced to my guy. He was pretty cute in his blog post, he was way cuter in real life.

Donate: Feeding and providing toilets for all the Tree House residents can be extremely expensive. So, donations of wet and/or dry food and litter are gratefully accepted. You can also donate funds to help Tree House meet their overhead costs.

Help Build It: We talked a little bit last week about the new facility that Tree House is building on Western. A great way to help out Tree House is to participate in fundraising for the new facility. Whether you donate directly, participate in a fundraising drive by running a 5k, or have a birthday party for your cat and donate all gifts to Tree House, there are hundreds of fun ways to support a worthy cause.

Get involved in the Trap/Neuter/Release & Colony Caregiver Programs: You can become a caregiver to stray cats in the area through the Colony Caregiver program and ensure that the stray cat population is maintained through the awesome T/N/R program.

There are also community events that you can attend that other groups have planned to support Tree House. For instance, on January 19th & 20th Insight Studios will be hosting a Tats for Cats  benefit with 100% of the shop's proceeds going to support Tree House residents.

The options are endless, check out Tree House's website for more details and information about all of their programs.
