The Rugby Weekend, is just around the corner. So it's time to really figure out where and who you will be tailgating with. In the past two years, most clubs have hosted some sort of tailgating party, and a few bars will be hosting events as well. Saturday has the most events going on, but on Friday there will be youth groups going to the games, with a half time game with local U12 players having a match at Toyota park, and the Chicago Blaze Hosting a watching party at their Club House.
Beach Rugby America, will host their third tailgating party, at Reggie's Rock Club. The party will include all you can eat buffet, teams can get signed up for, Wing Eating Contest, Arm Wrestling, Boat Races, Flippy Cup, and Team Rock Band Karaoke Contest. There will also be a shuttle provided to get you to a from the game so you don't have to deal with parking, traffic, or waiting for an Uber before or after the game.
The Chicago Riot will be hosting their second tailgating event. The Riot will have a special area with food, libations (21+ for alcohol), tunes, and more. Wristbands will be required and are on sale for $35. They can be purchased through thier website, www.chicagoriotrugby.com.
Chicago North Shore will also be hosting a tailgate event. Before the All Blacks v. Ireland game, starting at 11:00AM - Kickoff they will be providing food and beer for $25 in advance, or $30 day of. Chicago Touch Rugby will be holding an event, with all the beer, wine, and food you can handle for $20. The plan on being set up around 11:30am, and might even have a game of touch going on.
The Chicago Dragons are not new comers to the tailgate experience either. $20 gets you acccess to our party spot in the South Parking Lot, with beer, food, and "tomfoolery. A lot of tomfoolery." They also encourage tailgaters to "Remember to hydrate, and pack ibuprofen. The tailgate will begin 3 hours before the stadium opens up." Look for the Dragon flag.
If you are looking for something more family friendly, you can tailgate with the Naperville Chiefs for pregame tailgating at the All Blacks Vs Ireland on the Waldron Deck starting at Noon on Saturday 5th November. It is $10 per person (pre pay only via Paypal), and will include burgers & hot dogs. You should bring your own drinks, so kids can have a pop, and parents can just have one drink and it won't be too rowdy.
The Chicago Blaze will be doing a Kegs and Eggs event at the Club House and possibly have transportation from the Suburbs to the city for Saturday. More details to follow.
There will be plenty of good people watching and a few prematch events. The Chicago Lawyers will be hosting The North American Lawyer's Championship. The event will have international law rugby test sides from Canada, Cayman Islands, and the USA. They will have three 40 minute Round Robin Matches followed by a tailgate social. the game will be at 731 S. Washtenaw Ave. Matches start at 9am
The Illinois Tornadoes, and Rugby Illinois will host the Missouri select side team to a match before Saturday's game as well. The High School All Start Teams will get a chance to learn for each other before the see some of the best players in the world.
