A Festivus for the Rest of Us!

Rugby is a posrt full of traditions, our traditions are just slight off from other peoples. Right now its the season for End of Season Parties, Pub Crawls and Ugly Xmas sweaters. One thing to celebrate this holiday season is The USA Women’s Eagles big take home win of a historic first-ever IRB Women’s Sevens World Series tournament.   USA beat China and France decisively to win the Bowl. Teena Mastrangelo who plays and coaches in Chicago help out the USA Eagles with a big score against China that help seal their win! Not only do the Eagles win the Bowl, they also get five Series points that will add to their season total that will decide the Series winner after the next three tournaments.

As the season of celebrating is fully underway, Happy St. Nicholas Day to all of my pizanos who are celebrating today. I'd also like to wish a Happy Hanukkah to all who start their Eight Crazy nights this weekend.  You can celebrate the first night of Hanukkah with the Chicago Blue Rugby team December 8th at Emmit's Pub (Milwaukee and Halsted) who will be hosting an Ugly Sweater party. $30 from 8p.m.-11p.m. premium beers and rail drinks included. Not only will you be hanging out with some ruggers, you'll also be supporting some of Chicago's Finest.

As you get ready to plan holiday trips and visiting friends don't forget that the Vegas 7s are right around the corner as well as the IRB Women's Sevens World Series which will be in Houston. Tickets have gone on sale for the second round of the IRB Women's Sevens World Series on 1-2 February 2013. The BBVA Compass Stadium will host the tournament and two-day passes, starting at just $15. You can also do some good this season when you purchase tickets since the event will donate $1 per ticket to the Houston Area Women’s Center, a charity which gives services and support to survivors of domestic and sexual violence.

I hope you all have been able to enjoy the warm weather we had been having. It's been a very hectic past two weeks for me bout more news to come and updates. Don't forget that many teams have already begun their winter/off season conditioning. So get ready because before we know it Vegas and Whiskey 7s will be here!
