One season bleeds into the next...

I feel like June has snuck upon me and that the year has flown by. College Sevens Championships was last weekend, the weekend before we had Illinois High School State Championships and now summer sevens training has begun and summer clinics.

For Boy's High School State Championships, the Brother Rice Crusaders won Tier I, Lake Forest took Tier II, Pritzker Tier III North, Springfield Tier III South and for the Tier III Title game Pritzker came out on top. Some of the young men who played in the State Championships will also be playing this weekend with the Illinois Tornadoes, the U-19 Select Side team. The Tornadoes will be playing Wisconsin this Sunday in St. Charles at Jim Breen Westside Community Park on Peck Rd.

Now that 15s in officially over, 7s training has begun and there are several games this summer around the Chicago Area. Saturday June 16 - Highland Games - Itasca, IL, June 22 - Fireside Sevens - Lemont, IL, June 29 - Lakefront Sevens - Milwaukee, July 7 - Great Lakes Sevens - Lemont, IL and  July 14 - Midwest Youth Rugby Sevens Championship - St. Charles, IL. Most tournaments have both adult and youth games.

There is also seven touch practice every Tuesday at 6:30 at Montrose Beach on the north side of the park, near the fishing bait house.

As for me,  I'm hoping to head down to Houston on the 23rd to check out the USA XV games against Italy . The next three weekend the Eagles XV Men's team will be in North American, playing in Canada this weekend, and in Glendale the following. Former Chicago Griffin Andrew Suniula as well as his brother Rowland, who is currently listed with the Chicago Griffins,  are both playing in those games.

If you're looking for ways to support Chicago teams, a variety of fundraisers will be taking place through out the summer for most teams I'm sure. The Condors and Sirens have their annual Booze Cruise party in July. As for this weekend Jailbreak 7s Men's & Women's Social Rugby 7's Tournament and a  Free Youth 7's Clinic is being hosted by the Shamrocks and Morrigans. 11:00 am - 1:00 pm will be the Free Youth 7's Clinic, put on by the iYRA and you can catch rugby games for the majority of the day out in Joliet/Manhattan Illinois, at the Joliet Park Soccer Fields til around 5 in the afternoon.

Hope you all have a great weekend!
