Music to Your Ears

Music is an important part of any wedding reception.  It sets the mood for the celebration and invites people to come dance.  But first, the couple has to make some big decisions - what songs to pick for the walk down the aisle, the first dance, or the cake cutting.  Everyone will be paying attention, and there are so many songs to choose from.  Where do you even begin?

Big City Bride has planned a lot of Chicago receptions.  So of course we have our favorite songs... and we’ve compiled a list! Take a listen on Youtube by clicking on the title of each song.

First Dance

Lucky by Jason Mraz and Colbie Caillat

The Luckiest by Ben Folds

The Way I Am by Ingrid Michaelson

If you’re looking for a more old school feel, try these:

Someone Like You by Van Morrison

You Are the Best Thing by Ray LaMontagne

The bouquet and garter tosses also need a soundtrack.  These can be funnier, so get creative!

Bouquet Toss

Single Ladies by Beyonce

It’s Raining Men by the Weather Girls or Geri Halliwell

Gold Digger by Kanye West and Jamie Foxx

Garter Toss

Let’s Get It On by Marvin Gaye

Another One Bites the Dust by Queen

Theme from Mission Impossible (You know it’s funny!)

Have fun with it!  There are so many songs that can fit for these fun events, and don’t be afraid to go with a song that has some history or is special to you as a couple.
