Chicago has officially become a city of love and weddings. With a recent decision to allow civil unions, Illinois is one of six gay marriage states to recognize gay and lesbian couples with a chance to declare their love and commitment. The Illinois Religious Freedom Protection and Civil Unions Act officially went into effect June 1, granting couples rights of civil unions including hospital visitation rights, adoption and parental rights, inheritance rights, and the ability to make emergency medical decisions for partners. Millennium Park celebrated with "Unions In The Park" earlier this month, performing multiple gay marriage ceremonies with governor Pat Quinn in attendance.
Chicago will start to see more and more gay and lesbian weddings. Chicago wedding planners are full of ideas to help make these unions memorable and personal and a true celebration of love. The city is so excited to welcome these celebrations and begin planning weddings to make long awaited dreams come true.
