The temperature is finally heating up and summer is officially here in Chicago! That can only mean one thing - festivals, festivals, festivals! Every summer weekend is jam-packed with Windy City fun, and whether you're enjoying the party or planning a Big City wedding, you need to be aware of when and where the festivals are!
Hiring a Chicago wedding planner can be a huge help when planning an event in the city, since road closures and traffic jams can be a big headache for the Big City Bride! Or you can embrace the fun as part of your event, for your bachelor or bachelorette party, or even as an afterparty for your guests! As long as you're aware, you can make Chicago's busy party schedule work to your advantage. So here's to summer, and all of the festivities it includes! These are some of our top picks for events in June!
June Jam in Roscoe Village, June 4-5
It's an end-of-the-school-year party in one of Chicago's most admired and historic neighborhoods! Roscoe Village is hosting this kid-friendly bash with live music, food, games, local vendors, contests and other fun activities partially on the grounds of Audubon School. This year's two-day event boasts an expanded food court, interactive rides, and live performances from Chicago favorites such as Hairbangers Ball, 7th Heaven, Mr. Blotto, Rock Candy, and many more. Bring the kids and enter the Baggo tournament each day at 3 pm for just $5!
Wells Street Art Festival in Old Town, June 11-12
This is one of the biggest festivals of the summer, featuring 300 fine art exhibitors selected by a panel of art experts from local museums and galleries. But art is not the only thing this festival has to offer, as there is plenty of food, continuous music on the main stage, and a silent auction. Over 350 vendors participate in what the Illinois Federation of Festivals calls Chicago's "Best Community Festival."
Six Corners BBQ Fest in Portage Park, June 18-19
What better way to celebrate Father's Day than with every dad's favorite - barbecue! This savory festival on Milwaukee Avenue has something for the whole family with a bustling marketplace, kids' inflatables, and, of course, lots of hearty barbecue goodness!
Taste of Chicago in Grant Park, June 24-July 3
It wouldn't be summer in Chicago without the Taste! This week-long food frenzy is one of the nation's biggest and most diverse festivals, leading right into the fourth of July weekend! 59 restaurants will be showcasing their specialties, and you can enjoy world-class performers and lots of fun for the family at multiple shady pavilions. You can also work off the calories you ingest by running or walking the Humana Race to Taste 5K on Sunday the 26th. Gear up for crowded streets and delicious eats!
