I usually hate the cold this time of year, but does anyone else find it slightly alarming that it's going to be 60 degrees this weekend? It doesn't really match with the pretty holidays lights all over the city. Well, at least I haven't had to break out winter slush boots yet. I'm trying to store the warmth for those crappy days in February. Now, on to the weekend!
Happy 31st birthday, Britney Spears! Normally I would not give a crap, but the always fabulous Kit Kat Lounge is hosting Britney's Birthday Brunch on Sunday. Not only will classic Spears music videos play on the big screens, but if you buy a brunch entree you'll get bottomless drinks for only $10 more.
I am so excited for The Slumber Party tonight, a production by the Chicago Ladies in Comedy. The show features women doing anything from stand up, improv, sketch, singing, storytelling and dance. I read something about wearing PJs and having a pillow fight, but I think I'll leave the Cookie Monster onesie at home.
It's practically December, so if you haven't started your holiday shopping you're behind. Logan Square's Holidays on the Square has just about anything you could want: trunk shows, homemade holiday crafts, pop-up shops and holiday treats.
I have never been to Northerly Island, and that is sad. That is why I plan to take advantage of the 12 Days of Holiday Trekking. That is, if it actually snows at some point.
Amateur chefs will gather at the Drake Hotel for the 7th Annual Gingerbread House Competition. Each gingerbread house will be fashioned after a Chicago storefront, and the top three will win prizes and be displayed at the Drake Hotel. While you're there, enjoy refreshments and free pastry demonstrations by the French Pastry School.
