You're invited to Shaun's Gay Bar Mitzvah this weekend

Now that the summer festival season is over, it's time to get creative with our weekend activities. Which, of course, is no problem for me! Allow me to share my knowledge of quirky Chicago events with you to provide you with ample entertainment until next summer.

Have you seen the video of that kid dancing to Madonna at his Bar Mitzvah? EPIC! To celebrate this wonderous display, Hamburger Mary's will host Shaun's Gay Bar Mitzvah this weekend. And THE Shaun is the guest of honor! Shaun will perform his famous number at midnight, including a "modern" takes on the traditional Bar Mitzvah format. Guests can also enjoy rareĀ Madonna prizes and a DJ spinning the best of Madonna and other dance hits from the 1992. Donations at the door will go directly to help LGBTQ youth go beyond a life on the streets.

I heart the French Market, but I usually get intimidated and end up buying a brownie. Find out more about the vendors during the Chicago French Market Tour this Saturday. You'll get to learn more about the various oils, pastries and cheeses at the market. And of course, there will be some killer food samples.

This weekend marks the last of the summer Randolph Street Market festival. Browse through vintage and handmade treasures to spruce up your home for the upcoming holiday season.

I don't typically endorse concerts here, but this is a can't-miss: Blues Traveler is performing a free concert at Harry Caray's Tavern at Navy Pier. A '90s classic! While tickets are free, they're giving away a limited number so call the restaurant to reserve yours. There are also a number of dinner and drink packages available.

Get lost among the city's best artists' works at the 11th annual Ravenswood ArtWalk. Attendees can check out fine art, music, theatrical performances and other art forms along the historic Ravenswood IndustrialĀ Corridor.

  • Saw him on Jimmy Kimmel, so I guess I don't have to go.

Will Ravenswood also be demonstrating its lineup of politicians? I don't have to name names.
