Chicago's best haunted house is holding auditions

Happy weekend! I haven't been feeling so hot and can't seem to come up with a witty weekend event guide introduction. Here are some events you should check out....because:

Fall fashions are in full swing, crafty stores are already showing pumpkin decor, it's time to face the music: fall is coming. Normally I would be extremely depressed about this, but I'm already getting excited for Halloween. As you may remember, I visited a ton of haunted houses last year and provided reviews for readers. Well, Fear City, my favorite of last year, is hosting auditions this weekend for what is likely to be a very intense experience. Fear City Apocalypse has combined with the infamous Hades Haunted House to create a double scare. They're looking for characters to work from October 5 - 31. For the audition, bring your improv skills and scare tactics. Click here for info on how to schedule your audition time.

I haven't heard of this one. This weekend is the Taste of Latin America, taking place in Logan Square on Armitage between Central Park and Pulaski. Sample cuisines from almost a dozen South American countries while shaking it to Latin Beats. The vendor line-up looks delicioso!

Movies in the Park is winding down, so it's time to grab your blanket and soak in as much outdoor time as you can. (Especially now that it isn't 900 degrees outside.) Tonight, you can pick between "Super 8," "Michael Jackson's This is It!" and Justin Bieber: Never Say Never." Tomorrow night you can catch "The Wizard of Oz" in Oz Park.

Don't forget about this weekend's Food Truck Social!

  • I heard Richard Crowe is going to be auditioning for the haunted house. Okay, bad, I know, but I think he might have laughed himself. Maybe. Perhaps.
