Now this is cool. Tonight you can watch Andy Warhol's film "Empire" on the Aon Building. Yes, on it. The Art Institute is kicking off its new conceptual art and photography series with a pretty epic media stunt. Tonight, from 6:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. you can watch Warhol's 8-hour silent black and white film as it is projected on the side of the Aon Building. Read more about it here.
I always say that I'm somewhere between a yuppie and a crazy cat lady....well, the crazy cat lady side dominated as soon as I heard AcroCats were in town. This show is ridiculous and amazing. Cats doing tricks. Cat playing instruments. CATS! I first saw this act at a pet show I went to in Kansas City (I'm sounding more and more pathetic by the minute), and I LOVED it! So, you should go see it at the Gorilla Tango Theater this weekend.
Not much time left for holiday shopping! Find the perfect gift at the Bucktown Holiday Art Show. There's a crazy amount of artists selling their wares so you'll be hard pressed not to buy something.
Open Books is having a half off sale this weekend. If you need to find me, that's where I'll be.
Want to make a gingerbread house? The Whole Foods at Halsted and Waveland will provide frosted gingerbread houses and candy for you to decorate and take home in their gingerbread house workshop.
There's constant discussion over what the next dessert trend will be, and my vote is for cookies. Enjoy the best of the best in cookies at the Celebrity Chef Pop-Up Cookie Store at the Drake this weekend. French Pastry School students will sell creations based on recipes by famous local chefs like Rick Bayless and Stephanie Izard.
