It's one of my least favorite weekends of the year: The Chicago Marathon. Yes, it's an inspiring demonstration of human strength and will, but all I know is that I get woken up every year by those annoying noisemakers the spectators always seem to have.
Head as far away from the madness as you can for two amazing events in Andersonville this weekend:
Jane Lynch will be at Women & Children First on Sunday, autographing her new memoir, Happy Accidents. Buy your book from this bookstore, and you can meet Jane and have your book signed!
Stuff your face after the Marathon at the 6th annual Andersonville Dessert Crawl. The event takes place at the Swedish American Museum and offers dozens of delicious desserts made by Northside restaurants. My mouth is watering reading the list. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 the day of the event.
Want more Oktoberfest? There's plenty of celebrations happening for the rest of the month.
Make sure you come back to Chicago Quirk next week to read my reviews of five of Chicagoland's most famous haunted house. I personally visited each one - which actually led to some really weird nightmares - and I think you'll be surprised by which one comes out on top.
