This is the one and only time you'll see me recommending an event happening at Wrigley Field: They're playing Ferris Bueller on October 1.
This event is just so cool. A) Who doesn't love Ferris Bueller?! Classic. B) I do have to admit that even though I don't like baseball, Wrigley Field is a beautiful ballpark. And C) What better way to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the film's release?
The movie will be show on 30-foot screens on the in-field lip. Attendees can bring food and drink, as long as it's not in a hard-sided cooler, a thermos or contains any sort of booze. If you don't want to bring food, you can buy your Old Style and other Wrigley treats at the game-day concession stands at discounted prices.
And since you have to add the cheese to your experience, guests can take part in an attempt to beat the world record for most people singing in the round with a stadium-wide rendition of "Danke Schoen." If that doesn't do it for you, enjoy life-size cutouts of Ferris Bueller cast members and the various Ferris, Sloan and Cameron lookalikes roaming the event.
For $10 you can watch the movie in the bleachers, for $25 you can watch the game on the outfield lawn and for $75 you can watch the game on the outfield lawn and get two hours of pre-movie food and drink at the Captain Morgan Club. Honestly, I'd go ahead and pay the $25 because when are you going to be able to say you've been on the Wrigley Field outfield lawn?
