A Book Lover's Nirvana

A Book Lover's Nirvana

You can throw as many e-readers as you want at me, but I'll never give up on real live books. I won't preach at you about how, as Border's crashes and burns, we need to support the written word (WE DO!) - instead, I'll tell you about an awesome place where you can buy books for less than $2.

Sift through more than 120,000 books at the annual Newberry Library Book Fair. Starting at noon today you can find anything from your new favorite paperback or a rare first edition hard cover. The book fair runs until Sunday at 6:00 p.m., but you'll want to get there before the books are too picked over.

Books not your thing? You can still go for the collections of  LPs, 45s, CDs, video cassettes and DVDs.

And while you're at it, check out the informative and frequently-hilarious book fair blog. It will give you information on the fair's best offerings and a behind-the-scenes look at the event.

  • Ok, I finally signed up for Chicago Now, because I missed commenting on the fun stuff on your blog! I love looking through old used book stores, and this fair sounds pretty sweet. I'm going to be downtown tomorrow, so I might have to check it out.

(Also, I am sooooo jealous that your aunt and uncle live right on the Strand in Manhattan Beach! I hope you visit frequently... I love it there!)

  • so much great book. may get more message and useful news
