GOP Presidential Candidate, Rick Perry (R-Tx) is really gasping for air when he criticizes the Obama Administration over their reaction to U.S. Marines allegedly desecrating killed Taliban and then having it appear on You Tube. The fact is - what those Marines did was wrong at every level and no one, but no one can chalk it up to "a mistake" or something that happens in the fog of war.
War is war and people get killed, but there is a sense of honor associated with that. As such, I can't see where the honor is when a soldier (on either side) of a conflict pisses on the remains of their enemy dead. Unfortunately it does happen, but, when that dishonor extends to the world wide web for the whole world to see, well, it is going to raise more than just a few eyebrows and it must be dealt with.
Let's face it, there was no justifiable reason for what occurred and as such there was no justifiable reason for any presidential candidate to sugar coat it for the sake of appealing to an element of the constituency that might think that attacking the current administration for reacting the way they did was somehow over the top.
No, the current administration did not overreact or go over the top because what these young men did not only embarrassed their entire command, but an entire nation. And for that they must be held fully accountable under the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ).
As for Rick Perry -
the time has come for him to go suck some air off the presidential trail.
