What's Up This Week: Our 40th anniversary drop party, Emanuel on gun control and Chicago's false convictions

Party Time. The Chicago Reporter has 40 years of groundbreaking investigative work to celebrate, and we hope you'll join us for Thursday's drop party. There will be complimentary copies of our 40th anniversary issue available, as well as snacks and cocktails.

Guns. The nation has gun control on its mind, and Mayor Rahm Emanuel is looking for ways to keep guns off the street. He is to announce his proposal for a city gun control ordinance this week.

Cook County Takes The Lead. More people have been exonerated in Cook County than in any other jurisdiction in the country since 1989, our latest investigation shows. This week, we look at the numbers Chicago's high rate of false convictions.

Silent March Against Violence. On Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday a silent march on Martin Luther King Drive will commemorate the people killed in gun violence last year. It will begin Tuesday at sunset.
